Why We all Should Become A Greta Thunberg Now?
Firstly I came to know about Greta Thunberg one year back. Just a few months after she started her protest outside the Swedish Parliament asking for stronger action on global warming.
I forget her face and her name in a few days but never forget her message. Because she made me realise that it’s time to do something. That’s how strong her message was. It’s time to do something, to speak up about life and how we all feel. Recommended reading: Self-love.
We Should Dare to Unfollow the Trend called Greta Thunberg
Once we start to act, hope is everywhere. So instead of looking for hope, look for actions. Then, and only then, hope will come.
How dare you talk like that Sarath? Exactly, if you type “how dare you?” on google, the first thing that will come up is Greta Thunberg’s speech at the UN climate action summit in New York. But, really, what was she talking about? about climate change? No, she wasn’t. Greta Thunberg was urging us all:
- To be real and stop faking it. She urged the world to see things as black and white and to understand that there is nothing when it comes to the survival of humanity.
- Greta was asking us to take action.
- The young generation is asking through her for a real, responsible leadership which is there for humanity, for the change and not for “the system.”
- She is asking us to be conscious and start speaking up.
And Greta Thunberg is right in doing so. Because climate change is just the result of the lacking of above-mentioned realities. It can be solved once we decided to be real.
Why it’s Time to be Human Again?
Now, our social media walls are filled with issues related to climate change. We all are following Greta Thunberg. Now that’s great right? I say that’s bull s**. Just go to the link above and take a look at the comments there.
People are mocking here saying she should be at school and try to solve the issue by becoming an environmental scientist. And Greta is absolutely on point when she asks “Why should I be studying for if future that soon be no more?” Watch her TEDx talk here.
On the other hand, some of the people are talking about how we should be more worried about the problems of the children in third- world country especially that of kids in Syria. The biggest question here is who / what put those kids where they are? It’s our greeds and our irresponsible choices that put those kids in misery and danger. So, Greta Thunberg is in all meaning representing all the coming generations.
We are trying to prove her guilt so that we can get rid of some of those burden of our own wrongdoings. Similarly, we, the humans are so egocentric that, we couldn’t digest to the fact that the coming generation is more selfless and aware about life and the world as a whole.
What about us – the Proud Supporters of Greta Thunberg?
So, we are different and special, the responsible ones, right? wrong. I am confused about how to put it across really. Everything about life is a trend now. Capitalism and consumerism have put us into a state where our life is all about how we feel and appear on our social media walls. In other words, we are all fake.
When someone is proving you that there won’t be any future beyond 2050, we are busy applauding it. The Mother-Earth is dying. more than 200 species are getting extinct on a daily basis. Forest of the size of the UK is being destroyed on yearly bases.
All these are facts. But to us, it’s just another social media feed on our wall. We are busy in sharing and liking all this (Some are writing blogs). If your house is on fire with all your loved ones trapped inside what will you do? Post pictures on social media asking for help? Just sit down there and keep on blaming the authorities for being late and irresponsible?
It’s time to get it clearly into our heads – we are literally killing our children with our own hands. And we are busy worrying about not having a greek god-like body or keeping up with the Kardashians.
Greta Thunberg VS Severen Cullis- Suzuki
You must change your ways.coming up here today, I have no hiden agenda. Iam fighting for my future.
– Severen Cullis–Suzuki
In the plenary session of the Rio Earth summit in 1992, a young girl, Severen Cullis- Suzuki, Made the entire UN silent by the above words. When I saw the video many years back, I know something was wrong. The world leaders were silent. And their head was down with shame. That was the best signal for the facts that we are in danger.
Humanity is in the wrong hand. Decades later if Greta Thunberg was forced to repeat the same words, then we are really in danger.
How to Answer Greta Thunberg?
Remember how I started this conversation by asking why we should unfollow Greta Thunberg? I really mean that. Because by dragging the biggest threat ever faced by humanity on to our social media wall, we are literally killing the issue. Which means we are literally killing ourselves. The social media turned all of us into a brainless machine and a feeling less equipment.
That’s why when someone says that there is no future, we think we are all done by sharing it on FB. It’s high time that we stop this. Think about it and literally change our ways.
Be Aware, Be Real and Take Actions until it gets Fixed
First of all, stop expecting others to be the leader. Because, it’s about us, our family and our kids. So, be the leader. Be an example for your kids. Let your actions speak for you. Just like Severn said decades back – Please don’t break it if you don’t know how to fix it at least. If you don’t know how to make the world better, please don’t make it worse with your actions.
Don’t lie to yourself by saying there is still hope. Because without real action and real awareness there is no hope for even the slightest hope. At least, have the courage and admit the fact that we need to fix it.
Share what you have and Save our Resources and Forest
I remember after seeing Severen’s speech many years ago; how I decided to win a chance where the world had to listen to me. And then hand over that chance to her. Because it’s not about me. It’s about repeating the message until they hear us. So, I am going to repeat what she said decades ago. Share your resources and share your love and affection to all those kids who are in need beyond all kind of borders and restrictions.
By doing so, we will be able to save our forest, mother earth and all other resources. Think before you complain again. Thirty per- cent of the world population is under the poverty line. Please do let go of your greed.
Ask them Just like Greta Thunberg – how dare you?
We should start asking this question to the one we see in the mirror first- how dare you destroy my child’s future? Make it a habit and one day you will become courageous enough to come out and ask to “our so-called” leaders this. It’s time to stop this. In India, the largest democracy in the world, they are able to mock and divide people in the name of gods and still hang on to the power.
In the recent election, India was facing issues like the biggest unemployment rate in the history of the country, financial crisis, communal violence and ever-increasing farmer suicides. But the election was fought and won on the bases of who is better in destroying Pakistan. In the U.S.A, ” the strongest country” in the world, people are promising to “build the walls” if they win the election.
The so-called “greatest brains” are proudly declaring that it’s time for us to evacuate earth. They want us to think about some “other options” now as if we are the sole owners of everything around here. They make it sound like we the humans are all that is here and important. How dare we forget that we are only one of the millions of species known and unknown.
We have become so entitled that we don’t even care about the coming generation. If we don’t know to protect and preserve what we already have then how dare we think about “exploring” something new?
More and more youngsters are coming up with answers like “I am not interested in politics when asked for their opinion. What we don’t realise is politics is really interested in your life. Our leaders can destroy all our efforts, money, dreams or even the future with a single signature.
Not showing interest in politics is like creating each and every part of your life and your body with at most care and then go on and destroy your own brain by saying it’s a really boring thing . That will destroy all your efforts so effortlessly.
That’s how important quality leadership for humanity is. It’s time for us to make them here us. It’s time for some real leaders who care for the people to come up. Forget your greed and your borders. After all, it’s about your children. It’s about survival. It’s time for us to be real and start to see things as black and white as Greta Thunberg said.
What can I do to Prevent Climate Change?
We as individuals can do a lot to stop carbon emissions The Guardian, published a report in 2017. According to the report, just 100 companies are responsible for more than 70% of the world’s greenhouse gas emission. So, to put it simply we are putting the entire planet in danger to protect our 100 big companies. Read the report here.
There is no limit for you, once you start to focus on an issue and decided to do something about it. Here are some actions you can do as individuals to prevent climate change:
- Eliminate the use of single-use plastics.
- Eat meat-free meals. Don’t waste food and produce your own if possible.
- Have a political opinion. Be politically active. Stand for yourself and make the world hear you. Use your civilian rights responsibly.
- Speak up, write or start a conversation.
- Start using public transports and bikes (Bicycles) more. Reduce the use of fossil fuels.
- Don’t waste food or energy. Use more renewable energy resources.
- Start a company to find your own solutions for climate change.
- Spend time in nature. Buy, waste and consume less.
- Support environmental protection movements. There are many movements happening around the world. That includes Greta Thunberg’s – Fridays for future movement.
- But, above all do remember, your actions should speak louder than your words.
There is no stopping once you decide to be at least like Greta Thunberg. Because nothing is enough when your survival and the future is in danger.
It’s been a while since I write something. I wanted to come back with a well-written- SEO filled blog. And I was ready with it too. But then I saw people are making this biggest threat to humanity just into a social media feed. I wanted to speak up.
I don’t care about anything but speak up. Now, do yourself a fever, please don’t like or share it. Because our brain is so used to all that. Instead, go on and click the, unlike button. Delete it if that will make your brain understand the danger we are in. Do whatever you want. But, please take some actions.
